On May 3, Microsoft officially launched its new headquarters in Canada. The launching ceremony also coincided with Ernst & Young's release of a new research report on Microsoft's impact on the Canadian economy. Microsoft said the move would help the company further advance its business and help Canada develop its innovative economy.
"With the launch of our new headquarters, the official opening of our data Innovation Excellence Center and the expansion of our regional presence, even more organizations of all sizes and departments can use the power of cloud and data to accelerate the growth of their organizations and promote new economic opportunities for Canada," said Kevin pisk, President of Microsoft Canada.
An economic impact study by Ernst & Young shows that Microsoft has contributed more than $37 billion to Canada's GDP through its large investment for more than 40 years. In addition, Microsoft has cooperated with the digital technology super cluster. The company has been able to support 30 projects, currently worth $190 million, in order to strengthen technological progress and industry growth. All this is to better adapt Canada's workforce to the growing digital economy.
Microsoft chose Toronto as the center of its headquarters because of its "strong technology ecosystem", the depth of multicultural talents, and a large number of internationally recognized institutions. The headquarters has Microsoft's data innovation center of excellence and vision center. These centers are based on the company's inclusive mixed culture and play a great role in empowering employees.
The Toronto headquarters will be able to provide enough space for start-ups, students and community organizations. Therefore, due to the large amount of resources, they can fully release their potential in the innovation center.
