Tesla hopes to move these workers into dormitories and keep them closed-loop until June 13, the people familiar with the matter said. The people declined to be named because the plans were confidential.
Tesla is also trying to resume two shifts at the factory as early as next week, so that car production can resume 24-hour operation after the supply of auto parts and other parts becomes stable, people familiar with the matter said.
Executives are currently negotiating with Shanghai authorities on the placement of workers on existing and planned shifts, people familiar with the matter said. According to one of the people familiar with the matter, they may live in temporary dormitories or vacant isolation centers.
