It is reported that Qualcomm plans to acquire Israeli start-up cellwize for $300 million. At present, the two sides are in-depth negotiations. In November 2020, Qualcomm has invested in cellwize through its investment department, Qualcomm ventures. At that time, cellwize received an investment of US $32 million in round B financing.
In the past, Qualcomm has acquired several Israeli companies, including wilocity for $300 million in 2014 and CSR Israel's Imaging Division for $45 million.
Cellwize was founded in 2012. Its business scope covers 16 countries. Its technology is used in 3 million cellular sites, and more than 800 million users are connected through cellwize.
Cellwize's platform, called "machine", provides cloud and artificial intelligence driven ran automation and coordination to accelerate 5g network deployment. Verizon, Telefonica, Nextel, Movistar and bell are all its customers.
So far, cellwize has raised US $56 million. Investors include Intel Capital, Samsung next, Verizon venture capital, DTCP, Viola ventures, vintage, greenapple and sonae im. Cellwize has 80 employees in Israel and 160 employees around the world.
