One of the major changes of IOS 16 released at WWDC 2022 conference yesterday is the completely redesigned lock screen interface. You can now customize the iPhone lock screen with different widgets, fonts, dynamic wallpapers, and more.
However, the widely rumored "information screen display" function did not appear before the conference. However, foreign scientific and technological media 9to5mac found many references in IOS 16 beta code, indicating that the function of "constant screen display" is still under development.
Bloomberg News Agency mark gurman took the lead in reporting this feature, saying that IOS 16 will have built-in support for always on display, which is the iphone 14 pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max ready.
Now the first developer beta has been released, and 9to5mac has found several references that confirm that IOS 16 does include support for "constant display on screen". In IOS 16, three new frameworks related to iPhone display backlight management have been added. Backlight management is a key aspect of enabling the always on feature.
Each of these frameworks contains a reference to the always show feature. Theoretically, you can infer that these constant light functions are added by referring to the existing "constant screen display" function of Apple watch, but this is not the case here.
All frameworks discovered by 9to5mac are used by different components of IOS, including locking the screen. In addition, it is worth mentioning that springboard has multiple "rest screen display" screens - it is responsible for managing the lock screen (and home screen) of iPhone.
Finally, there are hidden flags in IOS 16 that Apple engineers can use to enable the always on feature, even on unsupported devices. This means that Apple engineers can test the "always on screen" function on the iPhone 13 Pro before the iPhone 14 pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max launch this function later this year.
