Intel released the mobile version of arc flash graphics card at the end of March, which officially opened the curtain of restarting the high-performance game card. This is another attempt to be independent 24 years after the advent of i740 graphics card. It is a great challenge to Intel. The time to market is delayed. Even the promised driver has jumped. Intel officials say it still needs time.
Lisa Pearce, vice president and general manager of Intel visual computing, broke the silence and answered three questions about arc graphics cards in the official community. The first is the current status of arc graphics cards. She said that Samsung took the lead in supplying, but Intel's software encountered delays and the impact of the epidemic, so the OEM version of arc graphics cards will be available this month.
At present, partners including Samsung, Lenovo, Acer, HP and ASUS have released computers equipped with arc 3 Series graphics cards, notebooks equipped with arc 5 and arc 7 graphics cards will be available in early summer**
For the problem of arc desktop graphics card, Lisa Pearce said it would launch in the Chinese market, the first batch is the entry-level A3 series, which is also OEM priority, followed by the retail version, and the more high-end arc A5 and A7 series will be released for sale worldwide in the late summer.
Another problem is about the arc driver. Intel's driver includes benchmark optimization for 3dmark, which can improve the performance by 15%, but this driver is not officially recognized by 3dmark. Intel previously promised to launch a new driver in April, allowing users to switch on and off the optimization function by themselves, but it was not released in April.
Lisa Pearce explained that they evaluated this function and decided to further design a new system to allow users to control the optimized set of their drivers, including memory management, but this requires additional development time**
Lisa Pearce said they believe this is the best solution for arc graphics card and will discuss when to release the driver in the next few weeks.
Judging from Intel's statement, this new driver will not be released for at least a few weeks. Anyway, there are not many graphics cards now. Just keep waiting.
