To celebrate global accessibility Awareness Day (gaad), Google is making some major changes to the play store to make it easier for people with disabilities to enter the place. An application can be compatible with multiple chips at the same time, depending on the accessibility it provides. For example, Android accessibility suite applications include motion assistance, visual assistance and learning disability chips. If you click on one of the chips, the page will take you to a specific tag category.
The play store will have an additional tag to make some of its 3.4 million apps accessible to people with disabilities. The tag will appear as an accessibility (a11y) tag, which will appear as a chip in the "about this application" section of the application. These tags also classify applications according to their accessibility. They have seven categories. Screen reader friendly, visual assisted, auditory assisted, learning disabled, motor assisted and barrier free communication.
Google said that this label temporarily "marks a sample of an application", so not everything on the play store will have these chips. Nevertheless, the company promises to bring this new label to more applications in the future. At that time, this will help people with disabilities easily identify applications that meet their needs.
But beyond that, Google will also help ordinary people who like to use and have some accessibility features in the applications they are using. More importantly, this will eliminate the need for play store users to fully install an application in order to verify whether it really has the accessibility they want.
Google is just one of the large technology companies that have started implementing new accessibility features in their products and products to celebrate gaad. Netflix recently announced that it is expanding the availability of audio descriptions and subtitles for its programs and film products. Microsoft also joined in, providing some new products for the disabled and taking some measures to make technology more accessible to them. This includes adaptability [accessories] expected to arrive in the autumn of 2022( https://microsoft.pvxt.net/Xx07X ) Series, and the Neurodiversity career connector website for job seekers with neurological disorders.
