Last week, many users received an official notice from Facebook that they would disable "friends nearby" and other functions based on geographical location information by the end of this month Although it is unclear why the social networking platform made this decision, Facebook has promised to completely delete the relevant information from the server.
Facebook users using IOS / Android mobile client have successively received notifications that the "nearby friends" function is about to stop service.
Previously, this feature was often used to share the current location with other Facebook friends, but soon, weather warning, positioning history, background location and other functions will also bid farewell.

Facebook said in the announcement: after May 31, 2022, users will no longer be able to use geographic location-based functions such as "nearby friends".
The information shared with Facebook during the period (including location history and background location) will also stop collecting after that, whether you have enabled it before or not.
Some of these receipts - such as the user's location history (a map service that automatically creates where to go based on the user's location information) - can still be downloaded before August 1, 2022. If you don't get it in time, Facebook will delete it.
Of course, this does not mean that the Facebook app will stop collecting users' location data (to improve the "other experience"). As for IOS client users, they can still block Facebook app's access to location information in the system privacy settings at any time.
