According to data from the European Association of automobile manufacturers (ACEA), Bev accounted for 10% of the total sales of passenger cars in the EU in the first quarter, even surpassing plug-in hybrid vehicles, which accounted for 8.9% of the market share in the EU.
In the first three months of this year, the EU sold 224145 BEVS, up from 146125 in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 53.4%.
Meanwhile, hybrid vehicles account for more than a quarter (25.1%) of the EU market share, up from about a fifth (20.9%) in the same period last year.
On the other hand, although gasoline and diesel powered vehicles lost more market share, they still dominated the market, with a market share of 52.8% during this period.
