BMW redesigned its X1 compact SUV and introduced its all electric version The new ix1 xdrive30 is the company's latest choice of electric vehicles built on its fifth generation Edrive platform, and the new BMW I4 is also built on this platform. Unfortunately, BMW spokesman Jay Hanson told the verge that currently there is no plan to provide ix1 in the United States.
The German automaker will build a new X1 in Regensburg. Gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, hybrid and all electric versions will be manufactured on one assembly line. BMW calls the updated X1 car compact sav (sports activity vehicles) in an effort to better distinguish the entry-level compact car from other models of the X series. The obvious changes of the updated X1 design include larger and more angular grille, more fashionable LED headlights, flush door handles and narrower rear window.
The all electric ix1 xdrive30 is equipped with a standard dual motor power system, which can output 230 kW of comprehensive power (up to 313 HP) and complete 100 km acceleration in 5.7 seconds. In addition, it is equipped with a 64.7 kwh battery pack with an estimated range of 257-272 miles (European wltp). It can be quickly recharged to 130kW, and BMW stipulates to add 75 miles in 10 minutes.
All new X1 models will be equipped with BMW's new operating system 8, which is equipped with a new voice assistant function. In addition, there is a new curved and continuous 10.25 inch instrument screen incorporated into a 10.7 inch infotainment screen. Passengers in the car can get a built-in 5g connection and BMW's map system, as well as apple Carplay and Android auto. The new system can adjust car settings and themes to suit different modes, such as expressive or relaxed. As for the driver assistance system, the X1 can automatically handle stop and go traffic and has built-in adaptive cruise control and lane keeping assistance.
The internal combustion model of the new BMW X1 series will be released in October this year, and the all electric ix1 and plug-in hybrid x1 xdrive25e will be launched in November.
Since BMW removed the quirky I3 electric car from its lineup last year, the automaker's all electric options are still relatively poor, but ix1 shows that the automaker is returning to the electrified track through this new entry-level electric car.
