On May 14, the space company Blue origin announced that its new Shepard sub orbiter's fifth manned mission NS-21 planned to launch on May 20 to send six passengers on sub orbital travel. This flight is also the 21st mission of the new shepardya orbiter.
The six passengers were Evan Dick, an investor and ns-19 suborbital passenger, Katya echazarreta, an electrical engineer and former NASA test director, Hamish Harding, a business jet pilot, Victor Correa hespanha, a 28 year old civil engineer Jason Robinson, the adventurer who founded the commercial real estate company, and Victor veccovo, the co-founder of the private equity company.
Among them, Evan Dick is also a sailor and motorcyclist. He participated in the new Shepard ns-19 sub orbital travel mission last December. This mission will be his second flight aboard the new Shepard aircraft. He once said that in the ns-19 mission, arriving in the space capsule felt like climbing out of the sea after living under the sea for a lifetime.
Katia echazareta will become the first Mexican born woman to fly into space. She received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from UCLA in 2019. After graduation, she worked at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory for nearly four years. At present, she is studying for a master's degree in electrical and computer engineering at Johns Hopkins University. Its seat is sponsored by the non-profit organization "human space".
Hamish Harding is the chairman of action aviation, a business aircraft brokerage company, and is also a business aircraft pilot. In 2019, he and Terry virts, former commander of the international space station, piloted the Gulfstream g650er to set a new record for the world's fastest flight around the world. He made two trips to the South Pole and dived 36000 feet (10973 meters) underwater with Victor viskovo in a double submersible in 2021.
In addition, Victor Correa hespania will be the second Brazilian to fly to space. He won a seat on the flight by buying NFT (non homogenous token).
Blue origin is to use the rocket to launch the manned space capsule vertically about 100 kilometers above the earth, and then the rocket returns to the ground by itself. The space capsule enters a weightless state for a few minutes, and then returns to the ground under the buffer of the parachute. The whole process lasted about 10 minutes.
