Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates announced that his covid-19 test was positive. The 66 year old technology tycoon wrote in a tweet on Tuesday that he was experiencing mild symptoms and "followed the advice of experts" to isolate himself until he was healthy.
"I'm lucky that I've been vaccinated and my immunity has improved, and I can get good testing and medical services," Gates said on twitter
The bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is scheduled to meet on Tuesday for the first time in two years. Gates said he would join through the Microsoft team because he thanked the foundation for its hard work. "We will continue to work with our partners and do everything we can to ensure that none of us will have to deal with the pandemic."
In 2015, gates delivered a ted speech on the global pandemic, warning us that the world is not ready for a pandemic. At that time, Gates said in his speech: "there is no need to panic... But we need to start acting."
In an interview with NPR (National Public Radio) in 2020, gates, who has been warning of the pandemic for many years, talked about the response measures of coronavirus, scoring high marks for social counseling in the United States, but low marks for testing and screening.
"Imagine that the diagnosis can be found in a month, the treatment usually appears in four months, and the vaccine has to wait a year at the fastest. When you have something growing exponentially, the speed of these reactions will make all the difference," Gates told NPR.
