Apple usually provides the public beta of IOS, MacOS, tvos and watchos to its public test team, but the homepod software updates tested until today have always been limited to specific groups of invited testers. This situation will change in the latest round of testing, because Apple plans to let public testers test homepod 16 software.

On its apple test software program website, apple listed the 16th version of homepod software as one of the test versions to be provided to public testers later this year. It works with IOS 16, ipad OS 16, MacOS Ventura and tvos 16 are in parallel.
Apple said in the website page of the test software plan:
New public beta versions of IOS 16, ipados 16, MacOS Ventura, tvos 16, homepod software version 16 and watchos 9 are coming soon. As a member of the apple beta software program, you can participate in shaping Apple software by playing pre release versions and let us know what you think.
Up to now, Apple has not officially provided homepod 16 software beta to developers, so Apple may plan to release both the developer version and the public beta later in the summer. Apple previously said that testers of the public beta would begin to obtain it in July.
