Phoronix pointed out: recently, some famous open source AMD radeon graphics driver codes have been incorporated into the mesa 22.2 version project next quarter** As the successor of gfx10, gfx11 obviously refers to the next generation graphic display IP block based on AMD rDNA 3. The older gfx 9 / 10 refers to Vega / cDNA and rDNA / rDNA 2, respectively.
Amd recently confirmed that it is shifting its focus to the new generation of radeon RX 7000 Series graphics card product line.
In the past week and a half, the company has submitted a number of patches for gfx11 series and amdgpu Linux kernel DRM open source drivers to mesa.
By introducing this batch of important open source radeon graphics driver code into mesa 22.2, it shows that AMD is actively preparing for the initial rDNA 3 "gfx11" GPU support in Q3 2022.
In addition, the company also plans to add support for several other IP blocks, such as the addition of gfx11 related code for llvm 15.0 disclosed earlier (the version is scheduled to be released in four months).

Although the hardware is still in the development stage, AMD is still trying to add more rDNA 3 gfx11 features. For example, mesa support mentioned that it attaches great importance to the radeonsi gallium3d OpenGL driver.
The rAdV driver recently added in mesa version 22.2 is regarded as an unofficial driver jointly developed with groups such as red hat and Google valve.
Developers using rAdV support certainly hope to add Linux support patches for gfxll and rdna3, so as to find the necessary ACO compiler back-end solution for the upcoming new hardware.

Another important support of the new version of mesa for AMD graphics hardware is the new vcn4 video acceleration codec patch (which can be used with gallium3d video acceleration status tracker).
What is still absent is the AV1 hardware acceleration support introduced in Intel arc alchemist GPU. If the disclosure is reliable, amd should also soon improve the relevant code patches.
Finally, the merge work queue has submitted minor rAdV refactoring code in the past 24 hours to allow coloring of related tasks using the radeon Vulkan driver.
